We are most of us in possession of significant power... More than one source? Consider that one person using their skills to assassinate two would rely on only those abilities...whereas should they kill one and be put to the sword by another of us...

These islands would appear to be a convenient stronghold for them, not a base of their own design. I cannot imagine either of them being the architects of such marvels as "the mini-golf course." [It's said very dryly, which pairs well with the ridiculous of of "the mini-golf course" when it comes out of her mouth.] That doesn't mean that everything didn't go wrong only when they arrived here.
