[ Sonya had been coming back from an evening wandering about himself when he spotted his fellow kakapo just ahead of him. What good fortune he thought, at least until it became apparent that they weren't going anywhere. ]
Unfortunately not. [ His expression is calm as always, though his arms are folded in thought. ]
We made it back to our lodging at least, or nearly so. It could be much worse.

Haha, the company is pleasant but the setting could be improved.
[ It's an awkward spot to be trapped in, a kind of in between. He smiles though, as he's want to do. ]
No. I've been in far worse situations, though I'll confess I usually have my sword with me. And yourself?

Why not? It's more than deserved.
[ He opens his hands wide, a clear show of no weapons. ]
I received a harpoon last week, but it's in the cabana rather than with me. When this situation clears, I'll fix that, of course.
[ He tips his head in agreement at the rest, but he's learned his lesson. ]

[ Por que los dos? ]
Hmm, well, my luck had run out by then I'm afraid. [ With weight on the word luck. ]
Haha, should I say you're welcome? I could have of course, but I don't see why I would. You have something to contribute unlike Chai.

Aha, I've heard that before~.
[ Sorry sometimes he's just like this too, it's fine. ]
I'm not certain it's so much a riddle but rather, a technology. One I'm certain Vergilius is familiar with, but his penchant for doing as little as possible worked in my favor. Or that might have been the remaining wishpower too.
But first, do you believe in good fortune? Or barring that, the power of wishes? The very human trait of desiring what may seem improbable?

It requires a lot of hard work, amongst other things.
[ Hmm, how to best explain this... ]
Where I come from, technology known as "Singularities" exist. Put simply, they bring extraordinary things into the realm of possibility. Time manipulation, instant regeneration, and so on. One of these Singularities is wishpower, but it's essentially the essence of luck. Gather up enough and you could win any jackpot with a single coin, or land the lover of your dreams.
I might not have had my sword, but I did have a wishsticker on me at arrival.

Oh, I didn't use the sticker in the hope of achieving my wish. There wasn't nearly enough wishpower stored up in it for that. Instead, I used to ensure the kill would go off as cleanly as possible, and how I wanted it to.
Someone had to kill, for the greater good. I'm pretty selfless, you know? I gave Vergilius' team something they hadn't earned, because it was the right thing to do. At least, for now.

[ Unhinged, absolutely. Selfish? Well not if you logic loop around to it! ]
The worms? I had to muddy up his corpse a bit so it wasn't clear that it was done by a harpoon. They're what I had at hand, or what he had on hand, at least. And I figured that since he liked them so much, he would appreciate being buried with them~.

Largely, yes. But I hadn't expect that fountain to hold sugar and not water. It was ill-suited to cleaning my harpoon.
I wouldn't say I know you well, but I can appreciate your company even so.
[ So yeah, he'll take her up on her invitation for hammock time. ]
You did. As far as rewards go, it is pretty useful.
[ nods at meta in knowing. ]

Do you? It should have lasted just a little while longer, then. I didn't even clean my boots more than I usually do.
[ Like really, he's just a neat person. ]

Usually I have a better sense of timing... but, well— [ ... ] you're right.
[ He tilts his head, resettling into a smile. ]
Did you? At least I can tell you that it's mutual. And that there's still time, however limited that might be.
